PUP, The Potentially Unwanted Program.

The "potentially unwanted program" or PUP, is a piece of software that downloads with another type of software that the user downloads, it might a program or an application. PUP is similar to malware in the sense that it will cause problems once downloaded and installed. This term was coined by McAfee to avoid labeling programs as malware. The difference between malware and PUP is that the user accepts to download it. When the user downloads the program from Internet and "forgets to read" the agreement to download, the user will never realize about the PUPs that were downloaded.

The PUPs have undesirable effects over the computer. Once downloaded, one PUP will be able to run several processes in the background, slowing the machine and its processes or might display different sorts of advertisement. The purpose behind this applications is unknown until they are installed and begin to work. PUPs are downloaded and installed along with other apps/software and the users are not aware of these additional pieces of software since they did not read the terms of installation.

BoBrowser also known as Ads by BoBrowser, BoBrowser virus… What is BoBrowser?

 
BoBrowser is an add-on for the browser, and we do not recommend it. It does not even resemble a virus or malware, but there are many factors for it to be considered a PUP. It is able to infiltrate the computer without the user realizing it. This is because it uses a deceptive method of distribution of bundling, that allows it to infiltrate the computer through different free downloads. BoBrowser was created by ClaraLabSoftware and "sold" as capable to protect your PC against malware, also to accelerate your browsing capabilities and improve downloads, to keep your information safe and to update and keep your browsing preferences.

Specially when all these services are free. Unfortunately, this is another adware that has been created with the intention to promote commercial content and to make money. For it achieve this, it will fill browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer) with pop-up ads, banners and text messages that will make you sick. besides, this add-on can deceive the user to download suspicious programs because “Ads by BoBrowser” can include predetermined links and redirect the search to different websites (MyStart Search.com). DO NOT GO to these websites since you may accidentally click on other infected links and instead of getting more adware, you might end up with real malware or a virus. In addition to this, the privacy issues must always be present since BoBrowser virus might try to steal your personal information. Basically, this adware is more interested in the user's online activities and can use this compiled information to fulfill its mission. It even tricks the users by imitating Google Chrome's appearance.

How?

 

BoBrowser has an official website and there are other sites for downloads; nevertheless, we do not recommend to download it since it is useless for the user. Unfortunately, it is possible for BoBrowser to get in your computer without a direct download. It usually travels in a bundle with other freeware. So far we know that BoBrowser travels with MySafeProxy, SpeedChecker, Snap.do and Final Media Player. In order to prevent the infiltration of these programs, always choose the Advance or Custom Installation option, just to really know what you are installing.
